Cadet Flight Sergeant Rhian Horton of 372 (Barry) Squadron, recently attended an awards ceremony to be appointed as the Lord Lieutenants Cadet, for South Glamorgan during 2020.
Rhian will undertake a busy 12 months assisting the Lord Lieutenant – Mrs Morfudd Meredith to carry out her many official engagements. Throughout the year Rhian will meet members of the Royal Family, politicians and many influential members of the community. Rhian was selected from over 700 Air Cadets across South Wales to this prestigious appointment.
Rhian was congratulated on their appointment by Wing Commander Bob Timothy, Officer Commanding No.1 Welsh Wing who said “Rhian is an exceptional cadet who fully deserved her appointment. I hope she enjoys her year in this important role”.
Rhian will follow in the footsteps of many Cadets from Barry Squadron during the last 21 years to be awarded this prestigious role; including Jason Horton, Chaz Graham, Dave Provis, Jenny Hunt, Simon Walker and Louise Claypole, Caroline Louise Bradley, Sian Davies, Megan Hamblin, Carl Chaplin, Tash Gill, James Jelinski and Rhys Horton.
Rhian has had an action-packed career at 372 Squadron during her 5 years; flying in military aircraft, shooting, attended camps at RAF Stations, undertaken Duke of Expeditions and being an invaluable member of the squadron band.
