Battle of Britain & the Spitfire Project

spitfireThis project aims to enable Cadets who chose to join it to learn more about the Battle of Britain, and the famous Supermarine Spitfire.  Through this Cadets will learn research skills and improve their artistic skills.

Cadets who chose to join this project have been issued a 1/72 scale Airfix model Spitfire.  The project has three objectives for the Cadets.  They will:

  • Build the model Spitfire for display
  • Reserach their entry number, which is the number of a Spitfire squadron
  • Create a piece that can be displayed on a board; this can be a short story, drawing/painting or any other display

The Project will be launched on Weds 25th June by a lecture from Grp Capt (rtd) Ron Powell on the Battle of Britain and the Spitfire.  The project will conclude in September with a display at Barry Library of the model Spitfires and displays.  The project will also for the 372 Squadron display at the Fleet Air Arm Museum Autumn Model Show in October.
